Baseball Trip Replay - Day 23 - June 15, 1994

June 15 - What a wonderful baseball park.

I got into Cleveland about noon, and found a place to stay. Turns out there is a metro line right by this motel, so I did not drive to the game. I took the train, and when you get out of the train, you walk through a mall. The fountain in the mall is really cool. It has ropes of water leaping out and falling in a hole a little away randomly, so you have these random arcs that look like they are alive jumping around.

The stadium is beautiful. Cleveland is an extremely industrial city, so the stadium was designed to match the buildings and bridges. The outfield looks up into the skyline. It's great. It has a little over 42000 seats, and they come close to selling out every game. The field has reasonable dimensions, unlike the Ballpark at Arlington. The scoreboard is nice; I don't know; it seems basically perfect for Cleveland. The game was great too. The Indians were behind 3-0 in the bottom of the eighth and tied it, then Jim Thome hit a homer in the 13th to the picnic area in center field. The place is baseball happy right now.

Had no trouble getting back to the motel. All in all a good day.

Route - I-71 North to Cleveland.
